Whilst Andy finalises details for the trip it has now been confirmed the club will visit Thorpe Park on Saturday 21st March 2009.

Price and ERS' still to be confirmed but I suspect we'll get an ERS on Saw, subject to it running.

Really looking forward to this trip! Very Happy

I've only attended one trip before (Mega-Glow-Mania 2004) and I haven't been able to go to any since. Fortunately this trip falled on a perfect date for me so I am finally able to come! Very Happy

Hi

Yes ERS on SAW, and price for trip is just £23 (nromal entry is £35 so a massive saving and you get an ERS!).
For those 11 and under it's just £18 and mini-riders under 1m can come in for free! And if you have a Tussauds Season Pass the trip is just £5.00!

Full details on invitation being sent on Tuesday (along with renewals, Bash invite and next AIRtime!)

Great price. Looking forward to the first club trip of the year and my first coaster fix of 2009. And even more importantly another credit for my count. Smile

I'm just wondering how the ERS on Saw will work seeing as there is a walkthrough with live actors before the ride. Will we have to keep going through it over and over again?

I've sent my renewal form, SAW-TED form and Blackpool Bash (with Saturday wristband) form off this week.  Also I've gone one step further, i.e. booked Advance train tickets from Bath to Staines and back for Saturday 21 March.

See you at Thorpe Park on 21 March.

Hail All! Cool
Well, I'm definitely going...Darned if I'm going to miss out on two ERSs on a coaster themed entirely around the pleasures of sheer Bloodshed! Twisted Evil

Got my booking sent off a week ago, and Nev's confirmed receipt of it. Just got to decide whether I'm going to come to the event via bus, rail, or on foot. Thorpe's only 17 miles from my house and I managed the journey in four hours yesterday on foot...And another gentle stroll like that would probabally do me some good. Cool

Anyhow...However I choose to get up there, I've got a couple of ideas in mind for the trip. Details are between me and the wall at the moment, though... Wink

Farewell for now, and looking forward to seeing some of ye at Thorpe in just under two weeks! Twisted Evil

As it is, I'm planning to go to Thorpe this coming Saturday to buy my Tussauds annual pass anyway...But as I'm currently staying up into the wee small hours each morning, I probabally won't be there until 13:00 at the earliest! Rolling Eyes

We won't be at thorpe next week. Decided against it coz of work commitments but hopefully will be doing thorpe and chessington at halloween instead. I'm a bit gutted but would have probably been too scared to go on saw anyway and simon definitly wouldn't have gone on it lol! See you at the bash x

Wow - over 250 bookings!  Imagine how many if it was a woodie!  Laughing  Laughing

Confirmations and trip badges sent 1st class this morning. If you haven't got yours by Wednesday, it means (1) I didn't get your booking, (2) the Post Office have lost your confirmation and trip badge (3) you forgot to send it in the first place! (4) You missed the booking deadline (4) I don't like you and threw your booking away!  Laughing  (I made that one up!)

Don't forget your badge holders and also yoru season pass if you have one.

Apparently Saw only operated for two hours today, before it broke and was closed for the rest of the day.

Getting a little worried about the trip now. Confused

it was running for the 2 hours between 12 & 2 yesterday except for the 5-10 minutes we were stuck on it.
bb0118 reported he rode it 10 times so that was after 2pm so fingers crossed it keeps going for next saturday.

Actually, I can confirm this one as I was at Thorpe earlier today for the first time in about three long years! Shocked

IIRC; It ceased operating shortly after 12:00, with the ride area/queue and then the whole island being cleared by 14:00. Although no-one was giving any specifics out, it seems that Gerstlauer are having a real headache with the rides control system for some reason. Sad

Either way though, I wouldn't have wanted to be one of the staff at Guest Services today...There were so many people angry at Saw not running that the queue was stretching right back to Depth Charge at times. The atmosphere in the office was so thick at times, that even my very trusty (And very Blooded! Twisted Evil) 1,100hp Chainsaw would've had a hard time trying to cut through it! Shocked

JamesC wrote:

I'm not, for one simple reason...If Sore:The Ride isn't operational for the ERS due to these faults, then the substitute ERS will allow me to catch up on three long years of missed rides on Nemesis:Inferno... Twisted Evil

On a day like that, it's pretty much pointless going. All 4 major coasters shut at once? Rolling Eyes

It's got to be something with Thorpe's maintenance team. Gestlauer coasters are very reliable I believe, and so are B&M's. To have Saw closed almost all day, and the same with Nemesis Inferno... that can't be coincidence.

At a rough guess, I would say two hours plus. I will point out though that Sore was already being evacuated when I arrived there. Confused

MrDJ wrote:

Aye, they were...And lots of people were taking Thorpe up on it. IIRC; Season Pass holders were being given exit passes though. As I had to make a mad dash back to Virginia Water to catch my train though, I didn't want to hang about in another queue.

As it is, I only got a pitiful three rides in today - All on the same coaster too (Though it was the be(a)st one of the lot! Twisted Evil ) - And though I can still get my money's worth out of the season pass that I bought today, I will have a word with TP about refunding me the rather steep rail fare that I paid to take those three rides and not have a chance to try out Saw... Rolling Eyes

stevencaine wrote:

Sore <-- Is about as reliable as Windows 95, apparently... Rolling Eyes
Stealth <-- Still down due to overrunning Winter maintenance*.
Colossus <-- 'Nuff said! Laughing
Inferno <-- Brief stoppage to remove rider mess.
Detonator <-- [Havn't a scooby!]
Loggers <-- No water in ride trough at all. Overrunning Winter maintenance*.
Rapids <-- Overrunning Winter maintenance*.
Samurai <-- Air-gate failure.
CCR <-- New curve leaving station has too tight a radius for the CCR locos, and will probabally need re-tracking.

* - Overrunning Winter Maintenance is bought to you by Thorpe Park in association with Notwork Fail and Virgin Trains. Laughing

If you can walk to the place in a couple of hours, i hardly think you can  complain about steep rail fares! Especially on a weekend when the on-peak premium fares are not being chinged!

And at least you got the spelling of SAW correct in that quote Smile

If you can walk to the place in a couple of hours, i hardly think you can  complain about steep rail fares! Especially on a weekend when the on-peak premium fares are not being chinged!
Ahh...When I walked it on Monday, it took me four whole hours (Walking from home -> FML, train FML -> VIR, walk VIR -> Thorpe takes half that) and by the time I arrived at the park, my back was in such a state that I couldn't have even ridden the Flying Phish safely! Rolling Eyes

At any rate, my train home yesterday - 2C53 - Arrived at Virginia Water a good 20 minutes late (It was a 458...Go figure! Laughing ) and led to me arriving home an hour later than scheduled, so I figure that SWT owe me a couple of quid in RTVs anyway! Cool

And at least you got the spelling of SAW correct in that quote Smile
The reason I've been calling Saw "Sore" from yesterday onwards is because - As far as rides go - That one's been giving just about everyone a headache! Razz

My apologies! Twisted Evil

Firstly - For the headache - Take a couple of these...

...Then to understand my previous post a little better, take some time to read up on these...

...Or alternatively, ask Coaster Police for a plain-English explanation! Smile

Good news - Saw should be open again tomorrow! Also Stealth should open sometime in the week.

Let's hope they both last till Saturday. Laughing
