|
|
Sat down to watch 'People do the funniest things abroad' (that's what my wife keeps saying about me, but not abroad) Was intially delighted to see in the opening credits roller coasters etc as it was coming from Europa Theme Park in Germany www.themeparkcity.com/EURO_germ.htm , however, the high soon disappeared as all the clips were not set in the theme park but around the world. The reason for filming in Europa park was because they have different areas of the park dedicated to different countries, or it may be that Stephen Mulhern, the presenter, is a secret roller coaster fanatic. Has anyone been to this park as it appears to look rather good.
Talking with my wife about the Looperthon, she feels that I should do some training in preparation, and me being me I always takes her advice (yeah!! but anything for a quiet life). This means I will have to get my Merlin Card out and take a visit to Thorpe Park (only 3 miles away) next week. If I get up there at 10.00 and with the kids being at school should be able to get in some serious 'training'. Well someone has to do it. |

Europa Park is one of the best parks in the World, it's certainly far out shines anything we've got in the UK. The park is owned by the Mack family, as in the Mack Company that build roller coasters. Consequently the park is practically a show room for every type of Mack roller coaster going. There is only 1 non Mack coaster in the park and that's Silver Star which is the tallest coaster in Europe and built by B&M.
The park is fantastically themed, as you say, to different countries round the World. Kinda Epcot style. It's also fairly cheap to get in, compared to parks closer to home, and has such a high number of rides that queues are usually short. I've been there at least 4 times and have never queued more than 30 minutes for anything.
They've recently opened their first looping coaster called Blue Fire. It's also the first launched coaster built by Mack. I've not ridden it myself but have heard nothing but rave reviews of it.
As well as roller coasters there are lots of small er attractions like rapids rides, football bumper cars, Pirates of the Caribbean. The food in the park is good and the staff are pretty friendly.
I can whole heartily say every coaster enthusiast must visit Europa Park. You can fly to nearby Baden Baden airport with Ryanair and I'm' 99% certain you can book a shuttle through Europa to take you to the park. They have on site hotels that are fantastic, but pricey, but as the park is in the middle of a village you can walk from the park to one of numerous smaller local owned hotels. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915
