That would be terrible for the park. They are two excellent attractions which would be a big miss from the park. _________________ Steve

Hubby heard on the local news yesterday that Paultons are being allowed to keep the two rides in question. _________________ Retired??? You must be joking! |

The planning consent meeting hasn't happened yet, so the rides are not 100% safe. The meeting to agree retrospective planning permission is later this week.
I spoke to the park earlier today and they said they're quietly confident despite a large opposition group planning to attend the meeting. I had offered to get a group of us lot to come along to voice our support, but they said they don't feel it necessary at this stage.
I think the meeting is on Wednesday evening, so hopefully we can really celebrate on Thursday. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

Dreadful news. Paultons lost at the meeting last night and did not get retrospective planning consent. As it currently stands they will have to take down Cobra and Edge, although they will no doubt appeal. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

I`ve just seen this on the news as well. Very disappointing outcome. It sounds as if the forestry people don`t mind but the LOCALS are objecting!! Same old story - they probably never go there and hate other people having fun!! _________________ Retired??? You must be joking! |

As it currently stands, no rides can be built on the land currently occupied by Cobra and Edge. The rest of the park has a general planning order so they could relocate Edge and Cobra to somewhere else in the park. I beleive the park has 28 days to appeal OR take the rides down.
Both Cobra and Edge will be open throughout Half Term, so get down there now and show the park your support. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

Crazy, why do a small minority always try and spoil it for so many. Do they not relasie the knock on effect this could have to the oweners and the people who work there. _________________ Steve

| That is good news, but I think Paultons could do with some more adult orientated rides. |

Let's hope they will be allowed to keep Cobra where it is. Edge could be moved somewhere else in the Park. There's a fairly large empty space near Wave Runner, surely that's big enough for Edge to be relocated to. _________________ Check out my coaster count at coaster-count.com

But that's already been earmarked for a future development. I'm sure Edge will be relocated elsewhere in the park, or they may just sell it on so as to be seen to try and compromise with the neighbours. I'm sure they'd get a good PX price with Zamperla for some other rides. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

Don`t forget Paultons is specifically a Family park, therefore the rides have to be suitable for children.

I hope that link works. Look for postcode SO51 6AL or Planning Number 09/94640 - Retention of Cobra ride, Control building, Catering kiosk and photograph booth.
You can vote for it to stay and add comments. (Make sure they are decent comments though. I`m not sure `I want this ride to stay coz I like it` would be very helpful.) _________________ Retired??? You must be joking! |

Good find Mary, I've registered my vote and left a rather lengthy and complex comment. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

Cobra is safe. The planning authority voted unanimously to grant retrospective permission. So it's only Edge that has to be taken down. Not sure whether it'll be sold or relocated. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

We`ve just been watching this on the news. I`m glad Cobra is safe now. They still have time to appeal about Edge but, even if they lose (I hope they don`t!!) surely they will try to relocate it. It`s a popular ride. _________________ Retired??? You must be joking! |

Why not move Edge to within the area designted as amusement park? As I said before, the empty space next to Wave Runner would make an ideal spot for Edge, would it not? _________________ Check out my coaster count at coaster-count.com
