I may be doing a parachute jump for Marie Curie Cancer Nurses.
I have had my pack through and the jump I would do is the 10,000 feet skydive.
Has anyone done one of these before and can tell me what to expect? |

I've done a few sky dives. Great fun and the buzz you get at the moment you leave that door is amazing.
I assume you're doing a tandem dive, took me several jumps to get to going solo out of 6000 feet. For tandem you get strapped to the front of a guy and just follow his instructions, he'll do all the hard work, while you get to just relax and enjoy the ride.
Well done for going for it. _________________ Marcus

Thanks Marcus
Looking at the paperwork it is the tandem sky dive. There is a 3000 feet solo jump on there but you have to attend a two day course for it. _________________ Rachel

I've not done a skydive, but I can fly the plane and push you out if you like? |

The two day course is good. But the 3000 feet jump doesn't really have any actual free fall. Your parachute is automatically deployed as you exit the plan. Still good fun but if you're only gonna do it once then go for the 12000 foot tandem jump. _________________ Marcus

I did one for me 18th its great fun just throwing yourself in to the unknowen. It is great fun tho its like scad diving (Bungie with no rope) they take you to the top and then just let you fall to the ground well in to a net but the fellings great. _________________ Naked roller coaster world record holder 2004

I did one for my 18 like rich.
Did mine at neather avon and ended going to 13,000ft. loved it but it was all over to quick. I found it quite scary when i was hanging out the plan waiting to go but the rest is all good and simple |

Did mine when I was 40. The worst bit was just before we jumped out the rest was fantastic. Can't wait for my next one.

Did it once for charity in 2005. Tandem skydive @ 13,000ft.
Turned up bright and early, watched video, watched trainer show us how we "fly" by demonstrating on a puffet, waited for weather/ok to fly. A few jumped out with the static line (3,000ft - parachute opens as soon as you drop). Once at 13,000ft, you get into position and jump!!! para opens at 3,000ft.
One of the most amazing experiences ever to participate in. (except when the para opens - males only ) _________________ Sky HD - The future of TV

Hail All!
I've never done a sky-dive, but it's something that I'd love to do...If only it wasn't so damn expensive to do it!
Personally, I'd go for the 10,000ft tandem dive (I'd need to tandem anyway as I have no training under my belt) as it would offer the maximum amount of freefall, and the most "Airtime" of the jumps!
Not to mention that it would give me the chance to try and exceed terminal velocity, and try some aerobatics, too - If my tandem instructor was happy with the idea!
Mind ye - I'm in the mindset at the moment that I could jump out of a plane without any problem, but then again I'm currently on terra-firma. If I was to actually be standing at the door of the aircraft and ready to jump, I don't honestly know if I could actually throw myself out of the aircraft...And I'm supposed to be a man who doesn't fear Death?
Oh well...I suppose it's not something that I need to worry about at this time - I have all of £15.00 in the bank, and I doubt I could do a dive on that...At least not one with a parachute included!
Farewell, and be(a)st of luck to Bunnie on her dive!

I never saw the appeal of jumping out a plane unless it was crashing
Good luck to you though Rach, rather you than me _________________ Don't look at me, I'm just Human
