| I drove past New Pleasureland today... Â they have a new steel spinning mouse like coaster that has a 90 degree turn half way up the lift hill. Â I did not stop to go in to the park as it's it just looks like a travelling fair these days!!! Â The only other similar coaster I can recall seeing similar to this new coaster was at Skegness. |

When I drove past, there was a worker at the top of the lift hill of the Gauntlet (or whatever it may be called now). Â It was about park opening time as I passed by so it may well be open already or if not, very close to opening.
As the coaster police are involved in this topic, would the Gauntlet from Camelot be classed as a new credit if ridden again at Southport? (not wanting to open a can of worms here, just interested?) |

That all depends on which website you use to count your coasters. The site I use, has a history for each coaster, so (like today with the Super Dragon at Hayling Island - previously DMP) when i go on a relocated coaster, i can scratch the box to say i've done the coaster at the new location, but my actual total coaster count number does not increase, because it's not new for me, only the location is.
On the coaster list on the website, I see a little square box next to the coaster name. If i click it, it gives me the history of the ride if it's been in previous parks (always useful to know).
So in answer to your question - NO, it won't or shouldn't be classed as a new scratch (credit), but you can say you've had it in more than 1 location.
I hope that helps _________________ Matt

I don't think the BBC report is very helpful. It says that Pleasureland is closed. Ok technically thats true and its now under another name, but it can't help the advertising if one of the biggest news sites says that its shut. Just a thought. _________________ Steve

It will be interesting to see what the park is like as it is more like a travelling fair now, which I am particulary interested in and to see how it compares to a normal fair as this one is more of a permanant one, like there used to be in Weymouth years ago.
I hope at some point that the club will return there as they have a new funhouse which always looked fun especially the Joywheel Challenge.

I think the site has the potential to become as good as Hayling Island, however the longevity of the park is unknown because of the local council plans.
I was suprised on my last visit to Southport at the amount of health places that have popped up, it seems to be a sports town now. _________________ Rachel

It feels like Theme Parks are just not wanted anymore. When will they understand that not everyone wants to go shopping! New developments get built so shops move to them from old developments. _________________ Steve

I totally agree. Personally, I HATE shopping (yes, I know I`m a woman - so what!!!). All these `shopping malls` look the same anyway, most of them having the same stores. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR It`s a major bugbear of mine.
Hmmm - Shop - or ride a Coaster?!! _________________ Retired??? You must be joking! |

I understand that people like to shop, but new estate just bring the same shops from other areas. In havant they built a new estate so the Halfords moved from the old shop to the new ones. what have we gained? A big empty shop and less trees. Surely there are other sites in Southport that could be built on, its just too easy to clear the parks.
I'd buy your Merlin passes soon, they'll be the only ones left soon. _________________ Steve
