Hi all,

I know alot of us drive abroad for random weekend coaster trips. Something has just been made aware to me that I did not know, and it hasn't been advertised very well.

French driving laws have changed.  From 1 October 2008, all vehicles driven in France, including vehicles registered outside of France, MUST have one Hi-Viz reflective jacket and one warning triangle in their vehicle. The reflective jacket has to conform to EU standard and must be inside the car – not in the boot. On the spot fines varying between €90 and €135 will apply.

Apparantly, the police in France know most of us are totally unaware of this, and are stopping cars at random and dishing out fines all over the place. The main point being the Hi-Viz jacket that must be contained in the car - not in the boot. This must also conform to a EU standard.

So, if you're planning any trips, get yourself a regulation Hi-Viz jacket, and a Warning Triangle!! (This is also a requirement on Belgium Motorways too).

The AA are cashing in on this, more info at...

Thanks, thought you'd like to know!

Matt
