I'm very excited. Paul and I are going to see CSS at The Dome, Brighton, as part of their UK tour.
We saw CSS last year and the much smaller Concorde2 venue.
It seems a fair few bands we've seen at small venues are climbing up the ladder.
We're also going to see the Mercury nominated band Maps at the Brighton Gloucester (Barfly) next week.

Anyone else got concerts lined up?

Its not exactly a music concert, but at the end of this month we're going to see the recording of the next series of 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue', in Manchester, I went to see it on tour in Leeds in August, it was such a fun evening lol. I'm sooo looking forward to seeing it again lol.

Going to see Madness at the O2 soon, then Stereophonics in november. Also going to see Jimmy Carr in november too. Saw The Frattellis in Swindon a few months ago, playing a small gig at a local leisure centre. Bowling For Soup are playing there later in the year, and I think Newton Faulkner is doe to play there as well, which I one I will get a ticket for, cos I think he's a fantastic vocalist.

I was impressed by your post as my wife and I are going to see Beverly Knight in Liverpool at the end of the month.

You blew when you added the post about the Spice Girls

P.S. We have all tried blaming our nieces and nephews for bad concerts

I have to say i can't really blame them as I brought the tickets. I did go and see The rolling stones and Prince earlier in the year. So that should redeem me in some small way.

I am sure I am older than both of you. Who are CSS as well. I am going to ruin my already damaged credability. I am taking my son to see "high school musical" on ice in december.
I am now officially a laughing stock.

I am selling HSM the stage show at the moment, and tickets are just flying out the door, so you won't be alone. Despite it being a complete load of contrived moralistic Disney rubbish. Laughing

Maps were excellent last night.
Brilliant sound, superb musicianship. They're well deserving of their Mercury nomination.

Having watched a little of Steve's clip of Samanda.. well.. it's obvious they can't sing because it's so heavily on the vocal modulation.

Lost Prophets - 4am Forever
All American Rejects - It Ends Tonight

I have heard of all of them but that may be because I have Scuzz & Kerrang on most days.

Last concert was Ozzy Osbourne now he was good.

I'm rather cross. CSS were performing an amazing set tonight at Brighton's Dome. Then some idiot threw a shoe at lead singer Lovefoxx, and she left the stage.
The rest of the band finished the song and also walked off, but not before one of the guitarists thanked the shoe thrower.
I'm ashamed of British people's behaviour some times, especially as CSS are visitors to this country (even though Lovefoxx is going to marry a Klaxon in a couple of weeks).

A colleague of  mine was at the Ricky Hatton fight at the weekend, and he came home equally ashamed because of the British people booing the US National Anthem, and behaving in a disgusting way.
I would say more, but I'll just put the link up instead.

I'm supporting Malcolm Middleton's = We're All Gonna Die Alone, for Christmas number 1.

It's an antidote to X-Factor and Mariah.

http://www.myspace.com/malcolmmiddleton - Check it out. It's an up-beat number.

I have to admit to watching X Factor and to say that I quite like the song. I am sure that his admission had done nothing to enhance what little street cred I have.
I will say however it is not a patch on the original.

I really wanted Rhydian to win, just because he was different. Then again I think I would much prefer to see him in a stage show as that is where his talent truly lies and then at least that way he won't be forced into releasing some truly terrible song.

I just watched Top Of The Pops and am gutted that the X-Factor guy got to number one. The song is instantly forgettable and he has the charisma of a grape. I stopped watching X-Factor this year after the audition shows. The format is to predictable and over done now. What is wrong with Britain? Keep putting the winner at the top of the Christmas chart even though they are one hit wonders or don`t deserve it. Every Christmas we have to watch a memory clip of there X-Factor journey. Boring! It`s the same every year now. Please put somebody else at number one next year.

There is some good news though. Today (Christmas) at 3pm, Queen are going to make a speech.  Wink
That's awesome because they have been very quite for years now. Freddy rules!  Laughing

I`m going to plug this here.

PLUG!

PLUG!

It`s Michael Jackson`s first single on his return. It`s a track from the new updated Thriller 25 years album. It`s Michael and Will I. Am from the Black Eyed Peas. A remake of `The Girl Is Mine`. Admittedly it`s not my first choice for Michael`s came back but it will do to have him back on the current music scene. Until the brand new album is released anyway.
This is out on January 28th.

Did i mention PLUG!?

She did sing. it was ok not great just ok. SHe drew tha loudest cheers of the night. All in all a great night out.

Been listening to a lot of Within Temptation and Nightwish recently  Smile

Hmmm...Well, the same opera is currently running at the Helsinki Oppeera (Opera house). Now, I'm thinking that operas are like theatre shows (Starlight Express etc) and can only run in one place at once. Is this the case, or am I thinking too deep again? Razz

I am going to try and claw back some credibility. On Feb 7th I am going to see the opera Madam Butterfly at the English National Opera.

Good for you ... that is a superb Opera - one of my all time favourites, as is Miss Siagon.  Very Happy
I saw La Cenerentola by WNO in October, but I must admit drew the line at James McMillians new piece The Sacrifice, despite all the blood and guts.  Laughing

Hmmm...Well, the same opera is currently running at the Helsinki Oppeera (Opera house). Now, I'm thinking that operas are like theatre shows (Starlight Express etc) and can only run in one place at once. Is this the case, or am I thinking too deep again? Razz

Absolutely not.

For starters Opera and Light Operas (like Starlight Express) and even  'Musicals' are at completely different ends of the spectrum and totally different artforms.
And definately they can be performed in different countries at the same time, as well as by different perfoming companies at the same time.

An obvious case in point is 'Joseph and his technicolour whatsit' which is running in the West End - starring Lee Mead, and also on tour around Britain at the moment, starring some of the runners up from the talent competition.

However, there are restrictions between certain Professional and Amateur productions of the same show, and also a producer can hold 'sole rights' to a show, which then can mean it cannot be perfomed by anyone else within the set restrictions.

However a production such as Les Miserables - which has been performed in 38 different countries, and although not in all of those at the same time, many versions have run concurrently, alongside the edited 'Schools' production, which is available for Amateur performance.

Here endeth the 'theatrical' lesson!!  Laughing  Laughing

Blood and guts? Could ye tell me where I can see this one inside the London area after the 1st February, please? I'm fairly interested! Twisted Evil

Does the production contain as much blood and gore as your post gives me the impression of, though? Smile
(I'm currently seeing a vision of the inside of an Abbahtoir after a particularly fast and furious day, so it'd be easiest for me to compare it with that in terms of scale! Cool)

Did ye actually mean to type Joseph and the Technicolour Dreämcöat, but found that the profanity filter pounced on it? LaughingRazz

...Or is that an actual spoof title drawing on the original? Smile

Cheers for that mate! I'm currently well over even the Russian drink/drive limits following the BAL-SAGOTH gig after-party, so will read and learn once I'm sober! Very Happy

Yeah, think they're doing an arena tour, presumably there doing Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle etc.

Indeed, Siamese Dream is a superb album. I still have a soft spot for Disarm, and Mayonaise is also a great track.
