My partner Paul and I were heading over to Sweden for a moustache related event, and made a little detour to spend an afternoon at Liseberg.

Liseberg is an attractive park in central Gothenburg. It's very green and mainly flat apart from a rocky outcrop on the edge of the park which is used to great effect.

We arrived in the driving rain, which meant our first ride on the terrain coaster Lisebergbahan included the sharp spiked pain of water hitting our faces at speed.
It's a great coaster, taking advantage of the natural slope on the western side of the park.

During September Liseberg opens at 3pm, so despite arriving in the afternoon we still had to keep an eye out for rides starting up.

Our next visit was Balder once we saw it running. Due to the weather and time of day the queues were minimal, so we were straight on and near the back.

What a ride. Balder has terrific AIRtime delivered through bursts of acceleration over the humps and bumps. Riding through the rain probably added to the speed of the ride.

After a couple of spins on Balder we went on Kanonen, the Intamin launched coaster. It was good fun but I wasn't too keen on the inversions.

By this time we were soaking wet so made matters worse with a ride on the rapids. These are pretty merciless with a few unexpected opportunities to get wet.

We finished off our afternoon on Rebalder the kiddie coaster, another fun ride.

It was a fantastic afternoon, and the bonus was we had free wristbands thanks to our RCCGB cards.

Super.

If you're heading over to Sweden make sure you stop in at Liseberg.
