Went to Thorpe Park last night to renew my Merlin Pass. After checking the closing time (which was 8.00 all through August) decided to go over about 4.30 so after having my tea there, hopefully the queues on the rides would not be too bad.

When I got my new pass I wandered over to the entrance and the girl said the park closes at 6.00 and I said NOoooo. I said I looked on the internet and it said it was open to 8.00 during August and she said that is correct but as it was July 31st then they are closing at 6.00 (What an idiot having a 'Senior' moment on something as important as the closing time at a theme park) This gave me just over 1 hour in the park.

My wife told me to go on ahead so I headed towards Nemesis which I had been on before to ease me in gently and with only a 10 minute break was able to head over to Saw. Queues of 55 minutes gave me plenty of time to back out but I was determined to go on Thorpe Park's new ride for the very 1st time.

Eventually just after 6.00 I was being strapped in. The first part of the ride in the dark was unexpected and when you go round to the vertical lift and straight up in the air I could only see the sky, I wondered whether I could get my membership fee back, however when you go over the top and are looking straight down and cutting back onto yourself, I knew I wanted my money back.  However, when I went down that slope and got into the ride I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was such a shame I could not go on again straight away.

I can look forward to my next visit and as it is only about 5 miles from my home I hope to go and be there when it opens, ideally on school day during the week.

Robin
ps sorry about the title
