Hey Frosty welcome to the board. The Blackpool Bash is a great chance to meet new people and make new friends. It's a real social occasion with lots of coaster riding thrown in too.
I'm aure most will agree that it is one of the best evetns of the year and certainly a good intro to the club. Usually Andy (Chairman) arranges for a welcome party to greet new people and introduce them ot people so they can mingle in comfort. _________________ Marcus

Welcome to the Board, Frosty.
I am coming to the Blackpool Bash after the sucess of Megaglow Mania last year, which was my first trip last August.
I found the club a great way to meet like minded people.
It should be a great weekend |

Thanks for all the greets - much appreciated.
So the Blackpool Bash is Friday 11th to Sunday 13th. I have looked through the UK Trips and Blackpool threads but just wondered what format this event takes. Do most people travel down on the 11th and meet up and head back on the evening of the 13th, or otherwise? Is there any block accomodation booking or each to their own? Ta! |

There is some form of professional entertainment on the Friday night.
Saturday is riding, exclusive ride sessions etc, and then the club show and party in the evening.
Sunday has more riding and ers etc.
Everyone books their own accommodation. Some people book the same place year on year. It'll be worth you looking now if you want to go. _________________ Sarah

My membership does not appear to have gone through yet so I can still only post to the newbie forum and FB wall. Now that the new AIRTime and BB invite has gone out, I can't help wondering if the postie will drop one off for me including my membership - here's hoping!
Thanks for the tip Helen - I expressed an interest to travel down in the coach Andy may be organising, but until I know what days it leaves and comes back I am unsure how many days to book accomodation for. But hey, there's still time - AIRTime |

Hey Frostie,
You're membership will come through ok, I believe Andy's been rather tied up with work recently and busy sorting Airtime mags, and the ever popular yearbook coming shortly.
In terms of travel, if Andy does organise a coach, it'll be leaving Friday morning returning Sunday to West London, so in terms of booking leave, you'll need to make sure you have the Fri, Sat and Sun off only. I bet you've got a pretty good boss though so get your leave application in so she can approve it.
Just remember the golden rule though, what happens at the Bash stays at the Bash ... and should not be discussed with Engineering colleagues at team meetings ... |

Hi there stormforce!
Well, that clears up the accomodation issue, 2 nights it is - whether by coach or train if needs be.
As bosses go, she is the best!
No problem regarding the 'golden rule' |

Hi,
I've been searching hotels and B&B's for the BB, and in another thread I read that the 'langroyd hotel' is highly recommended. If nothing else I will try this.
The problem with booking a friday-saturday overnight is that the check out time is mid-morning the following day, not much use when there's a day of fun to be had on Sunday and you have baggage - literally! - although probably just one mid-size hold-all. I hope to get the London coach back if that's laid on.
Can anyone say how they cope with this - book 3 nights fri-sun and collect their things sometime Sunday afternoon?
Not having received the booking form, is there anything I will miss out on if things are left a little too late?
Where's the bext place to try and find nearby accomodation - near the pleasure beach, north or south?
Sorry for all the questions - but this is the first time I've done this and things are a bit of a mystery at present. |

Being as close to the Pleasure Beach is the best option.
Slightly to the south is good as it's nearer the venue for the Friday and Saturday night 'entertainment'.
Most people store their stuff on the coach or in their own cars. _________________ Sarah

I've usually found that hotels will let you leave a reasonable amount of luggage after you have checked out. But it does depend on the venue.
That's what I did last year, and hope to do again because I will be travelling by train. |

Hi,
I phoned the Langroyd and booked the friday-saturday stay, and they are fine with leaving your baggage on the Sunday. In fact, they are so busy with ever increasing amounts of RCCGB members, that they have partnered up with the nearby Wilford hotel just to cater for the B-Bash. I'm not sure which place I will actually be staying as yet, but both are to the same standard and I'm sure great places to stay. It's a relief having sorted that. Roll on the good times!
Thanks everyone for the advice and help - much appreciated. |

Lucky you got in Frosty - we stay at The Lindfield and it is usually fully booked for the next year, by the time we leave on the Sunday. _________________ Jester

Wow that is impressive. The Langroyd is massive so to be full of RCCGB this year is cool. They said last year they would try and do this so that they could head over to the pleasure beach. _________________ Steve
