My 1st visit to Great Yarmouth on my holiday was a pleasant day. After reading about the discounts on offer the other day I presented my membership card which gave me £2 off which all helps.

I was looking forward about going on The Big Dipper, but not knowing what it was going to be like I decided to ease in gently (wimp). The 1st ride I saw was Disko so that was the chosen one. On this you sit on the outside of a spinning circle whilst the circle went up and down on a track. Quite a pleasent ride, occasionally reasonably quick.

I then made my way down to the Roller Coaster (a wooden one!!) Being Early Sunday morning I was able to get on more or less straight away. I sat behind one of the attendants and wondered what he was doing. it was only after we came back I realised that he was operating the brakes. At the start the two attendants push the cars to get the ride moving, which is rather different to the modern day equivilents. The ride goes round and after hooking onto the drive chain up the hill we go. As you go up the hill you get a great view of the sea and as I approched the top I decided to hold tight. The 1st slope was reasonable and there were two quite fast dips but to be honest it was not overly exciting. Back in 1933 it probably was state of the art but nowadays can only be described as pleasant. I went on 4 more times throughout the day and, knowing what to expect I did not even need to hold on and nearly, to Thorpe Parks horror, I raised my arms up in the air for a laugh. I can't say I felt overly brave as the ride felt very gentle.

I then went on the Orbiter, I think that's what it calls followed by Mullan, which did not think a lot of. After never been on a Sky Drop type ride before I went on the Pleasure Beach version. Quite enjoyed this after the 1st drop and went on again. I understand that at Drayton Manor the ERS will be Apocalypse so I thought this would prepare me for that session. I then checked the height of the Pleasure Beach, which is 22 metres, and Apocalypse, which is 54 metres so now I am not so sure.

I then went on Evolution which looked reasonably slow, but his turns out to be it strongest (??) feature but this was terrifying. I did not enjoy this ride at all.

Overall it was a pleasant day out, the Evolution being very unpleasant, the Roller Coaster being more like a Scenic Railway, rather than a roller coaster.

Keyword for the day - for me - was pleasant. After my trips to AT, DM and TP which can be intense I was disappointed but it passed the day quite nicely.

Tomorrow I go to Pleasurewood Hills which has two roller coasters, wipeout and Enigma, which I did not have the nerve to go on last year. I will be going on these tomorrow and looking forward to it.

Pleasure wood hills has 3 roller coasters the snake in the grass coaster at the back of the park. Dont go on the cable cars unless you like only half the day in the park Laughing

I forgot about 'Snake in the Grass' at Pleasurewood Hills which is surprising as I went on it last year several times. I went on the 'Snake' again today and really enjoyed it. It is quite fast and with 3 laps on each go gives a very long ride. I think it was more enjoyable than Enigma which was an uncomfortable ride which I only went on once.

I had three rides on Wipeout, which I think Pleasure Island Cleethorpes has one the same. Back in 1995 I went on the Cleethorpes ride with my sister. It was OK going forward but when it went backwards I did swear at the time, however, times have changed and I am a lot braver, dafter or just stupid and don't swear any more in fright. With the park being quiet I was able to go on without any queueing which was great.

Altogether I went on about 20 rides, the one I enjoyed the most was Wizzy Dizzy. It was really great with floating in the air at the top of each swing.

A good day out which my daughter and wife enjoyed as well on the train rides, chair lift, Wave Rider and Bumper Cars.
