We have all seen on the news over the recent weeks about problems the fire brigade are having in certain areas of the country with idiots throwing missiles and all sorts of other things at them.

I asked a fireman yesterday that I know if they are allowed to turn the hoses on the thugs and he said categorically no they are not.

So what do you think about this do you think the fire brigade should be allowed to do so or not.

For me I say they should be allowed to give the little sods a drenching, the people who get soaked could hardly complain as they had no regard for the fire brigade in the first place. Although sadly I am sure some bleeding heart human rights person, PC correct person etc would come up with a defence for the hooligans Mad

Hail All! Twisted Evil
Thankfully, I havn't seen such things with my own eyes yet. If I had, Id've probabally assaulted the hooligans full-on in defence of the firemen, and - Given the stuffed-up politically "correct" laws of our land nowadays - Would probabally be serving ten years inside for doing so! Evil or Very Mad

Personally: I think that if firemen are being attacked whilst carrying out their duties, they should be allowed to go on duty armed with shields and certain types of close and mid-range weapons, such as swords and cross-bows. Cool

After all...If ye were a Chav planning on doing something destructive, would ye go up against a fireman with a longbow in his hands? Twisted Evil

Farewell... Cool
>> Death <<

P.S: Sorry for turfing up an old poll, but I only just spotted this and had to comment on it.

We had the problem in South East London a few years back. Teenagers would set the shoots and bins and garages on fire. Just to get the fire brigade out everyday.
I saw firemen attacked with objects and even hit while putting the fires out. One time a fireman turned to avoid the punch and the water stream hit the kid straight on. He went flying over. LOL
They should be able to use a reasonable defence. I would say using the hoses is not going to cause lasting damage but its a powerful defence.
