With predictions of clear skies and low winds, I decided to take a risk and head back up to Fantasy Island for a second attempt at conquering Jubilee Odyssey.
After surviving the mind numbingly dull and seemingly endless journey north east, I arrived in Ingoldmells just before 11am, where I was greeted by clear, sunny skies and no wind, as predicted.
So far so good.
With anticipation levels rising, I could see Jubilee Odyssey in the distance from my car window, but didn’t notice the train going around. Odyssey briefly slipped out of view, before reappearing once again, this time with a train ascending the lift hill with people on it. Result!
A few minutes later, I was in Fantasy Island buying my Odyssey tickets. Queuing for a grand total of 0 minutes, I walked straight on to the front row seats for my maiden voyage. Result #2!
After a short wait for additional riders, the train was dispatched. Ascending the lift hill, I felt a mixture of relief (that the ride was open and that I was on it!), excitement and anticipation. The first drop looked extremely steep from the ground, and I couldn’t wait to experience it first hand. After the trundle to the top, it was time for the 'odyssey' to begin. The first drop felt as steep as it looked and was truly exhilarating, as was the mahoosive loop that came after it. The cobra roll was fun as were the two other inversions. Overall I was extremely impressed with this ride, especially with how smooth it was (Vekoma Hang n' Bangs ain't all ). I had a second go in the middle seats as the back rows weren’t available. But I didn’t really care. I was just happy that I achieved my aim to get on Odyssey. The 600 miles getting there and back twice were well worth the hassle! _________________ Carl |

Urban Dictionary definition of 'mahoosive'
1) Something that is beyond being massive
2) A object/body astronomically immense in its magnitude
3) (insert naughty word) B-I-G !!!!

Jealous! We were in Skegness for 5 days and every single day went up to see if this ride was open and it never was . There was a slight breeze on most days though so thats probably why! Managed to get on the millenium coaster though which I enjoyed. |

It's horrible when a coaster you've never been on is there in all it's glory and you can't ride it (not so bad if it's a Boomerang though ). Although I heard that Odyssey is restricted to weekend openings from September up until the half-term holidays in October. But yeah, one sneeze and it shuts down
Glad you got on Millennium coaster though. Shame it's so dull (in my books anyway).
Skeggie winds are low tomorrow (under 10mph). So anyone heading up that way 'should' get a ride on Jubilee Odyssey. In theory _________________ Carl |
