Who went: Mark (Chewie) & Liane, Lee (looping lee), Dave (ucozade6) and myself.
I had a fantastic time at Fantasy Island (a huge market with rides bolted on ) yesterday, even though Jubilee Odyssey was shut all day due to high winds (story of its life). There was one point in the day when it was ‘close’ to opening. But alas, it didn’t
Jubilee Odyssey is the last UK coaster on my ‘need to ride’ list, so I will return to FI when the winds are extremely low.
Thankfully the park introduced wristbands this year. And after parting with £17, I honestly felt that I got my moneys worth.
I rode:
Millennium Coaster
This ultra smooth Vekoma looper was fun if uninspiring. Loved the final helix, plus there’s a nice pop of airtime leading into the second loop.
Volcanic Impact
Forceless S&S Space Shot. Very disappointing.
Beast
Fantastic Topscan. It had a long setting and was pretty intense. Samurai is a kiddie ride in comparison!
Rhombus Rocket
Surprisingly fast powered coaster. Great fun!
Fantasy Mouse
Bog standard spinning mouse coaster. Good laugh though.
Amazing Confusion
Really enjoyed this. Basically, it’s an inverted pendulum ride that intermittently holds you rotating at the top. It had an extra long cycle. But we certainly weren't complaining!
I would love to have had a go on the Absolutely Insane (S&S Sling Shot) attraction. But it’s just sitting there rotting (literally).
Later in the afternoon, some of us went to Botton’s Pleasure Beach which is only a few miles away. It’s clearly aimed at families with young children as most their rides are as tame as can be.
From their coaster line up I rode Rockin Roller (a dull Fabbri spinning coaster) and Queen Bee (Inverted Big Apple).
Their two other coasters were standard kiddie coaster fare, and I couldn’t be bothered riding them.
After heading back to Fantasy Island to find that Odyssey was still closed, we ended the day with multiple rides on Millennium Coaster. _________________ Carl |

Excellent TR carl, it was a great day, plenty of rides with fellow enthusiasts !
Millenium coaster was running extremely well , i managed to ride it front back and middle ! We also tried to get the jellykins credit but were told we were too tall ( are well ) !
The wristbands make this park very attractive now, compared to having pockets full of tokens as in previous visits !
Hopefully Jubilee Oydessy will be running next time ! |

I was able to get the Jellikins tick a few years back. I had to make a bet with the ride operator that i could fit into the car. He said at my body size and height it was impossible. So when the boss was out of site i climbed in the front sideways. and got the bar down. He ride op thought it was so funny he sent me round in it. It`s the tick i`m most proud of _________________ My Site www.freewebs.com/big-Stevie-b/

Glad you had a great time guys. Someone was breathing in the park then courseing slight wind then Absolutely Insane is a ok ride not as good as the sling shots in fairs etc tho.Its been out of operation for at least a year now due a big part need for it I heard. A great park when its all up and running tho. _________________ Naked roller coaster world record holder 2004

Thats pretty much how me and Hayley got in!! The girl seemed to have no problems letting us one, and didn't even take tokens from us. Bonus tick!! _________________ Steve

I feel for you. It took me 4 attempts to ride the Jubilee Oddessy. Given that from Poole it's about 250 miles, i drove 1000 miles for the damn thing!
The first time, it was broken waiting for a part, the second time it had rained alot in the morning, so even tho the sun was now out, they had sent the staff home so had no operators, the third time it was too windy, and luckily the fourth time, it was working. I think it probably has to be one of the hardest adult coasters in the UK to ride given it's hopeless operating record.
As for the Jellykins coaster, I managed that. I was there with Mark and the operator said we couldn't fit in it. We explained the situation that we needed to ride it, and like Stevie B - ended up making a bet with the ride op that we could fit in it. It was hillarious I must admit, and after squeezing in, got 5 or so laps out of it. It's now the Jellykins Washing Machine simulator in my mind _________________ Matt

Blimey! That's a lot of mileage for a hang and bang But those are the lengths a hardcore enthusiast must go to sometimes
I just hope and pray it's second time lucky for me.

Amen to that.
General consensus is that it's a great ride (can't comment on that yet) built in the wrong park (so damn true)! _________________ Carl |
