I would actually like to see Jenson do well this year. He's had a cack time of it and deserves a year with a decent car to at least prove to us if he's got it or not.

When Hamilton won, everyone was cheering a British winner....now Button has had a great start we should really get behind him as well...I tend to support the drivers rather than the manufacturers, unlike the Italians. Anyway its nice to have a couple of decent British drivers.

He was the best! |
Red 5....now those were the days! I was there when he won at Silverstone after coming back from over 20 secs behind Piquet then overtaking him on Hangar straight witha nifty feint to one side and then back to the other going into Stowe corner. Fantastic!
Saw a great drive from Hamilton at last years wet British GP, he blew the field away, he also drove a fantastic race with great passing in the GP2 race at the British GP a couple of years ago.....
Button has always been good as well, I had tears in my eyes on Sunday especially when the Ferraris were nowhere! |

According to the BBC news, it's to do with giving false information over the team radio etc. |

| Yes and the complete inability for both sides to sit and have meaningful discussions with each other...although the FIA and Max Mosley have tried to bulldozer changes in and tried on numerous occasions ti divide the teams with underhanded tactics....it will all come to a head this weekend as the deadline for teh FOTA teams to tow the line is the end of Friday... |

| I'm sure they'll get something sorted ! F1 does need to cut back with its expenditure otherwise i think it will self implode ! Only problem is Max Mosley and the powers that be are trying to rush the changes which obviously the big teams aren't too keen on ! |

It was a shame that Button didn't give us a British Grand Prix win but I have to say Vettel and Webber had an amazing race for the Red Bull team. Just hope before the next round that Brawn sort out the issues Button was reporting with his car.
Also wonder what happened with the Kovalainen/Bourdais accident as on the coverage Kovalainen was blaming Bourdais.
Was interesting to hear all about the politics happening with the Grand Prix. _________________ Rachel

Hamilton is picking it back up
1-2 for McLaren for the race tomorrow.
Shame that Schumaker isn't racing in place of Massa, would've been brilliant to see. Badoer qualified last on the grid, apparently it's the first time Ferrari have qualified last. _________________ Rachel

Fisichella in the Force India car in pole position for tomorrows race.
One of the best qualifying sessions in my opinion. _________________ Rachel

Personally, I can't take much interest in Formulae 1...Even though they say it's "really fast", I find that the cars only being capable of 250mph does spoil it for me a little. Stick in some more powerful engines, a proper mechanical manual transmission, and maybe an NO˛ tank or three though, and it'd probably get my attention!
On another note though: I find the current F1 model to be a bit badly thought out, as all scoring and ranking in the sport is based entirely on the combination of driver and vehicle. Consequently, even if Driver A has far fewer skills than Driver B, Driver A's disadvantage in skill could be mitigated or surpassed (I.E: "Hidden") by superior technology held by Driver A's team.
I reckon that a better approach would be the separation of rankings into individual tables for drivers and their vehicles, and that drivers should use different vehicles in rotation - I.E: Schumacher would drive Ferrari's car in one league race, then take the wheel of McLaren's one for the next, then Ford's runabout for the third, and so on.
This would allow drivers to be recognised for their genuine level of skill and adaptability, and would allow vehicle teams to be separately graded based on the quality and superiority of their engineering. It'd also allow F1 teams to test out their cars with a number of different drivers instead of the same one or two drivers each and every time, too! _________________

It was good to see another British champ however, I think seeing Hamilton win it last year on the last lap so dramatically will live in my memory a lot longer! _________________ RCCGB Member 392 |

Totally agree. What a great race it was. To be fair to Mark Webber, he had a fine race too, felt a bit sorry for him on the podium as Button was getting all the attention. That said, at least it was his 2nd win, so i'm sure under the circumstances he was ok.
Well done Button tho. Reading back to the top of this thread from the beginning of the season - it seems he did do well _________________ Matt
