Having used Expedia for years for booking nearly all my various trips I am now strongly advising everyone to avoid using them.

Back in May I needed to amend a booking. Their Indian call centre handled it BUT booked extra nights in the wrong hotel. I rang back to get it corrected and they booked another wrong hotel with the wrong type of rooms. I then managed to speak to the UK call centre who could see the mistakes and were going to correct them and refund me the mistaken hotels.

I am still awaiting that refund of nearly £600. I've been promised on 4 seperate occasions that the refund is currently being processed and yet 50 days later the money still hasn't appeared. I've spent nearly £20 on premium rate phone lines and sent countless faxes and emails. They refuse to let me speak to someone in authority.

I've spoken to the credit card company and they are going to put a block on any interest that I will incur. If the money hasn't been refunded by next Monday then they are going to step in a pursue Expedia for the money.

Apparently Phil saw Expedia on Don't Get Done Get Dom with a similar matter. And a search on the internet implies it's a repeat incident.

So based on personal experience I would avoid Expedia at all costs and use someone else like hotels.com and ebookers.co.uk
