On Sunday 26th April I went to Crealy in Devon with Stevie B, Vicci, Smiler, Jess, Matt, Coaster Andy and Thomas.
It was my first trip outside of club and it was very sucessful.
We went on the El Pasto Coaster, Tidal Wave, Victorian Carousel and Dizzy Dina ride. Unfortunately the pirate ship was closed due to maintence.
The best bit were the indoor play areas and the Buzzard's Swoop Slide.
We were very fortunate with the weather despite a few showers.
Hopefully they will add new attractions in the future. |

I must say it was one of the best days in a theme park for age's. If there is a return visit I am sure Thomas would love to go back he loved them slides.
I thought it was a ok park but I still must say my son Thomas must be mad putting his hands in the air to ride the coaster as it was insane on front of it.
The slide were cool it is nice they cater for us mad people and adults to not saying we were all children but you put use in a adventure playground with slides well we all become children then. You have Stevie going my goodness it is to high , Thomas saying I will hold you hand and jumping off and going down the biggest slide he could find.
Well great day and cheers to everyone who was there. Thomas and I enjoyed it so much. _________________ Memeber of the 08 Top Thrill Rollback Club + Member of the "First to be denied SAW by Technical Failure" club.

Well done. Reading this thread I see you all had a mega fun time.
| Happy Helen wrote: | | It was my first trip outside of club and it was very sucessful. |
By that I take it you mean meeting up with other club members to visit a park together. All my visits to theme parks (Flambards, Cornwall's Crealy, Devon's Crealy and Paultons) outside of official RCCGB trips have been me alone.
My most recent visit to Devon's Crealy was Tuesday 30 September 2008 - my 37th birthday. It was the final day of a five day holiday in Devon (I'd stayed four nights in Torquay), and was also my birthday outing. I wore my 20th anniversary RCCGB T-shirt that day, unfortunately I've no photographs to show you of that day.
| Happy Helen wrote: | | We went on the El Pasto Coaster, Tidal Wave, Victorian Carousel and Dizzy Dina ride. Unfortunately the pirate ship was closed due to maintence. |
Did you ride the Dotto train, Princes Train, Honey Swing (kind of chair-o-plane) or the Meteorite (drop tower in the building where Dizzy Dina ride is)?
These are the rides I went 30 September last year, some more than once: El Pastil Loco, Pirate ship, Carousel, Log flume, Dotto Train, Bumper boats, Honey Swing, Dizzy Dina’s Ride, Meteorite.
| Happy Helen wrote: | | The best bit were the indoor play areas and the Buzzard's Swoop Slide. |
You actually liked the Adventure Zone better than the El Pastil Loco roller coaster and Tidal Wave log flume? Glad to hear you liked the Adventure Zone. Did you go on the yellow Astrozoomer (bumpy slide), grey Astrozoomer (bumpy slide) and two double drop slides? Were you brave enough to do the Red Devil drop slide from the lower and then upper beam. How much of the soft play equipment did you go on? All of it? Did you try the giant balls? When I went there, I used the giant balls to try doing exercises such as jacknife on ball, superman on ball, that I do on Swiss exercise balls during circuit training at Bath Sports Centre.
The day I went I thoroughly enjoyed the Adventure Zone, I deliberately saved that for last. You know, save the best till last. It's great that they allow adults (or should I say adult kids) to play in there, i.e. a soft play area, isn't it? Did you all feel like children playing in there?
Did you go in Battle of the Bears? That's a place where you fire foam balls at one another. If you lot all went in together, I bet you had a mega fun time shooting foam balls at one another. I went in there, although it was just me in there at the time, I still enjoyed firing balls around.
You actually did the Buzzards Swoop drop slide? I'm sure that's more daunting than the Red Devil.
Did you go on the metal slides in the Treetops Outdoor Play Area? Or the swing? Near there did you try the Funambulist Challenge, or the Roundabout PlayPump? Did you try the River Challenge - a series of unusual bridges?
When I went last 30 Sep last year, I enjoyed 8 goes straight off on the Buzzards Swoop, and also slid all the metal slides. I even had a go on the swing. When I was a boy I hated swings, until I was about 7½, and then I needed someone to keep pushing me - I couldn't swing myself. On this occasion, my 37th birthday, I managed to set myself swinging and keep going no problem, by using my legs properly. Also I did all the bridges on River Challenge, the Funambulist Challenge (but could only manage the short tight rope, couldn't walk the two longer ones), and had a couple of goes on the Roundabout PlayPump.

You did better than me on my last visit. The day I went (30 Sep 2008), it was raining on and off during the morning, and dry most of the afternoon, with occasional sunny spells.
| Happy Helen wrote: | | Hopefully they will add new attractions in the future. |
What would you like to see there in future?
1) A wooden family coaster? When I went to Flambards during my holiday in Cornwall last June, I asked an attendant if they were contemplating builidng a wooden roller coaster. He said "No, they cost too much to maintain".
2) A ball pit - that adults can play in? They used to have an all-age ball pit in the Adventure Zone Cafe - called the Monkey Cage, but they did away with it when the alterations to the cafe area were done (i.e. installation of the glass partition between the cafe and play area). |

Nick, pretend you are in a business meeting and presenting a business case or new project to a board of directors.... what they like is an executive summary, i.e. short and to the point.
Executive board members are very busy people and like bullet points delivered fast, so they can move on quickly to something else important. Have a go at doing an Executive summary style post |

I read your report on Devon's crealy and it sounded like you had a good time. I wore my 20 th anniversary t-shirt for the first time aswell.

I went on the El Pastil Loco twice, the carousel and the Log Flume once. I did get a bit wet, but I dried off quickly. I also went on the Dizzy Dina's ride one. I was a bit dissapointed that I couldn't go on the Pirate Ship.

In a way I did like the play areas best as the slides were really fast especially the Red Devil's Drop. I was brave enough to go down higher beam. I went on the yellow and the grey slides and the two double drop slides. I didn't try the soft play equipment. It is great that they allow adults in too. Your circuit training sounds good.

We didn't have a chance to do the Battle Of The Bears as it was very busy.

The Buzzard Swoop Slide has always been there. The first time I went to Crealy back in 1989, I was going to go down, but at the time I thought it was too steep, but I did it this time. It was more daunting than the Red Devil.

I remeber it was raining that day.

Yes I'm sure that was the case at Flambards as it is only a small park. The idea being so that very young children will not get worn out or tired.

I remeber going in the ball pool when I first went there. |

Glad to hear that. I wonder who likes Devon's Crealy more - me or you?

My report on Devon's Crealy? I wrote a report about my trip to Paultons mid October last year but didn't write a report for my trip to Devon's Crealy 30 September 2008. Your'e not thinking of what I wrote about the adult night at Swansea Playzone last September in my report "Nemesis Nick's Swansea Slidathon", are you?
| Happy Helen wrote: | | I went on the El Pastil Loco twice, the carousel and the Log Flume once. I did get a bit wet, but I dried off quickly. I also went on the Dizzy Dina's ride one. I was a bit dissapointed that I couldn't go on the Pirate Ship. |
I'm surprised you didn't go on the Honey Swing or Meteorite vertical drop ride. Did any of the others in the group go on those?
| Happy Helen wrote: | | In a way I did like the play areas best as the slides were really fast especially the Red Devil's Drop. I was brave enough to go down higher beam. I went on the yellow and the grey slides and the two double drop slides. |
I enjoy drop slides as well, it's great fun letting yourself go from the beam and then have a freefall drop followed by fast sliding along the run-out. Well done going from the higher beam. Those drop slides are what give the most AIRtime at Devon's Crealy aren't they, i.e. the freefall drops.
| Happy Helen wrote: | | I didn't try the soft play equipment. It is great that they allow adults in too. Your circuit training sounds good |
Why didn't you go on the soft play equipment whilst you had the chance to? You only enjoyed half the Adventure Zone that way. Playing on soft play equipment is great fun too, you missed out there. There's loads to choose from in there, including over and under barriers, spinning discs, zigzag web climber, tumble tower, wringer rollers, squeezum pads, slither chicane, v-net bridges, etc. Did you notice the sign stating that the play area was designed and installed by Taylor-Made Play Equipment?
| Happy Helen wrote: | | We didn't have a chance to do the Battle Of The Bears as it was very busy. |
Busy all day? That was another fun bit you all missed out on, you'd have all had a mega fun time firing foam balls at one another. Imagine yourself blasting a ball at Big Stevie B, and him blasting you back.

I couldn't face the Buzzard's Swoop on my first visit in 2003, but did it when I went in 2004, and every visit there since.

You ought to have done the River Challenge. Why didn't you try the Roundabout PlayPump? It's just like a roundabout at a normal playground. |

I was saying the same thing to Vicci on Sunday. We were chatting about you two guys when we went shopping to Bristol. I know Helen is from the Bristol area and have read in your posts before about you getting a bus from Bristol Temple Mead.
You both live in a close area and could accompany each other to club trips and parks. I don't mean this as a silly set up between you both. Your both very sociable and like to do the local fairs and parks. Could you not get in touch and do a few trips? _________________ My Site www.freewebs.com/big-Stevie-b/
