After the slight letdown of Kings Island it was nice to be going back to Cedar Point.

With it being Memorial weekend we wondered what it may be like with regards to the lines in the park. But we choose to go with CP for the holiday weekend with it having such amazing ride capacity. In the end ride capacity was not really an issue as both Sunday and Monday were pretty quiet days in the park, or at least as quiet as you can expect at Cedar Point.

The last few days of our 5 days at Cp were affected by the weather as there were a lot of showers in the area and the odd thunderstorm. It was with the rain that we discovered that CP is not a fun place to be when it is raining.

With what seems the slightest drop of rain pretty much all the rides are closed until it becomes dry again. Now I can understand why they do that on TTD and MF with the speed they go at but for the life of me I can't work out why they do it with most other rides. If our parks in the UK did this policy they would not last long, even though at the moment sat at home in Bolton typing this it is as hot as it was at Holiday World!!

Anyhow back to Cedar Point and the rain. When the rain does stop and after a short space of time the rollercoasters reopen but on low capacity, the only reason I can think of for this is that they are concerned that a train may go through the brakes. But surely they realize that rides can run fine in the rain, even more bizzare when you think most CP rides are made by European ride companies.

The highlight of the week came out of something that should never have been. The last act at CP was to be the Platinum passholder ert at the end of the day on MF. But for whatever reason she did not want to play and is still not playing as I type this. So TTD and my favourite CP and 2nd favourite ride after The Voyage, Magnum XL 200 became part of the ert. I decided that I wanted to just stick with Magnum, not many other people were riding and it had two trains on so I stayed on for most rides getting an amazing 16 rides on it!!!. What an amazing way to end 7 days at Cedar Point. Even the fact the last few rides in the dark we were getting loads of bug splatters arounf the pretzel area could not take away from an awesome hour.

HIGHLIGHTS

- Memorial weekend not being as packed as I thought it may be.
- Great weather on the weekend.
- Great ride staff all over the park again.
- Very few ride breakdowns after the 2 days the week before.
- Magnum XL 200 ert, can it get any better?

LOWLIGHTS

- The rain losing us quite a few hours and a lot of rides, we would have done a lot more but for it.
- The parks knee jerk reaction to rain, totally over the top imo.
- Leaving the park after 7 great days in total, even when CP is not at its best it is still far better than most.

RIDE REVIEWS

- Maverick, last year I was a bit unsure about this ride but this year I loved it totally. Great first drop especially in the back seat, insane speed and twists. A perfect blend of whit knuckle and fun. We have got to get somthing like this in the UK. It can be done as well as it is only 105ft tall. 10/10

- MF, 300ft first drop and speeds up to 92mph make this an amazing ride. Ok it does not have loads of airtime but the speed and swoops more than make up for this. 10/10

- Wicked Twister, if any park gets one of these in the UK then you will see me and Caroline a lot. It is about the most intense ride you can ever wish to go on. The back seats are total insantity. 10/10

- Magnum XL 200, a true legend of a ride. 20 years old and still gives out a better ride than most rides built since then. It has everything, great first drop, great speed, intensity and insane airtime. The finest steel coaster I have ever been on, only Kumba at Busch Gardens comes close. 99/10 (well I gave the voyage 100 Laughing )

- Mean Streak, Mean by name and nature. This is one ride that lets you know you have been on it. Good fun ride though. 8/10

- Blue Streak, not very tall or long but packs a punch. Good fun coaster with great airtime. 7/10

- TTD, once you have been on this Stealth at Thorpe Park is never the same again and well as for Rita at Alton, well lets just say it feels like a monorail. TTD gives you the most amazing 17 seconds of your life. The launch pins you to your seat and the drop back down makes you feel like you are going to be thrown out. Remember TTD only has lapbars and belts unlike other Intamin rocket coasters. 10/10

- Mantis, A lesson in pain for men in the tender regions and the head for everyone. If I wanted my head pounding like this I would take up boxing. Horrible ride. 3/10

- Raptor, last year I rated this ride but this year it did very little for me. Maybe I have done too many B&M inverted coasters as they all start to feel the same with the exception of Nemesis and Montu. 7/10

Here are the Cedar Point photos. Note I did not take many as I took loads last year. If anyone wants to see the photos and TR from last year just say and I will add a link for you to view them.

CP may be the greatest park in the world,
but 5 days anywhere is a bit of overkill.
Glad you enjoyed it , but there are lots of other things in the area.

Thats exeactly what i was thinking. I jumped the Voyage USA trip because of Cedar Point and i loved it was was well worth it. But just reading this topic is making me go off Cedar Point. I`d want to do so much more than the same park day in and day out.

5 days was not enough for Cedar Point for us.

We could still be there now and loving it, hopefully minus the school field trips though Laughing
