WHO WENT
Just me!!
Park Hours 10:30-17:00
Today was a day off due to time owed to me at work so I thought it only right to make my second and long overdue visit to BPB this season.
The forecast was grim and this time it proved to be right as it rained all day long, it was dry for 15 mins mid afternoon and the last 20 mins of the day. Other than that it was a total soaker.
Unlike some of the missed time in some of the parks in the USA I went to last month due to rain, BPB showed we do things a little different over here as the rides stay open and if you are daft enough to go on a ride in such conditions expect to get very wet and feel the pain on your face from the stinging rain.
The park was pretty quiet, but considering how bad the weather was BPB can't be too upset, the ironic thing is that the last couple of days when the park has been shut have been really nice!!
Like my last visit to BPB it is obvious the park have impressed on its staff how to relate to guests as like last time all the staff on all the rides were superb.
The only thing I would criticise the park on today would be PMBO as they ran it on very low capacity. Only two cars on the train open for the first 2 hours then only 3 cars until park closed even though the ride station was over half full most of the day. But that was counterbalanced by the operation of other rides and the determination to keep rides like the Wild Mouse open even though the ride was struggling in the rain.
RIDE COUNT
Infusion - 14
PMBO - 1
Avalanche - 5
Revolution - 3
Rollercoaster - 12
Ice Blast - 2
Grand National - 6
Wild Mouse - 8
TOTAL RIDES = 59
HIGHLIGHTS
- A superb day out at BPB despite the weather
- Great ride count
- Avalanche ran superb in the rain, it went really high around the corners and was just totally mental.
- Great performance by all the staff at the park.
- Rollercoaster was running really well, I thought considering it may be my last chance to ride it if it does shut for good then I would have a few rides more than normal.
LOWLIGHTS
- PMBO, as said above the queue was a bit annoying when the park was quiet. Also it was a slow train on in windy conditions so the ride was very average, hence only one ride.
- Wild Mouse, the rain made this the not so wild mouse today. It was running a good 6 seconds off the pace and was really struggling to make it around the top bend. On one young lad it did not make it and they had to evac him. Credit to the park for running it in the conditions and re-opening the ride swiftly after the evac though.
- As with any great day at a theme park it always goes too quick and the day comes to an end when you really want more.

Was the classic woodie Rollercoaster actually running that day then? It wasn't running the Saturday of the Blackpool Bash (18 April), and I was ever so disappointed about not being able to ride it that day. I thought it wasn't going to be running this season (bar a week or two at the beginning of this season whilst Grand National was still down). |

Rollercoaster has run every now and again during the season so far when the Nash or Big Dipper have been shut.
When I went last week Big Dipper was closed as they were fitting the new ORP camera and fitting out the photobooth at the rides exit.
Rollercoaster is now supposed to be SBNO for the rest of the year, at the end of the month the current safety certificate runs out and there is no word on if BPB are getting another for it.
The latest rumour going around is that next year Rollercoaster will be back and be very much part of the parks line up, but with all things BPB things do change a lot. _________________

It is situated at the bottom of the first drop. As far as I know they have not started selling photos yet, but I imagine it won't be too long off though. _________________

Well I hope it will be running for next year's Blackpool Bash, in fact I'd love to ride all 5 woodies there next year. |
