Myself and Hayley took a little trip upto Blackpool for a long weekend to do the Pleasure Beach and other Attractions.
On Friday we spent the day at the Pleasure Beach and the park was fairly quiet all day. Most rides were walk on and all running well, except the Big One which didn't run due to the high winds and rain. First ride was Ice Blast in the pouring rain, quite and experience being shot up into a down pour! Best ride of the day would have been Big Dipper, running very fast with lost of air throughout. The new on ride photos are very good and in an excellent position on the first drop. The Red Train on the Nash is still running like a bag of spanners, and consistently running in last throughout the day. Luckily our ride was on the much faster Blue train. Bonus of the day was seeing the Gold Mine running so had a couple of goes just incase its not open next time. Overall an excellent day and a high ride count for July!
On the Saturday we did the new Ghost Train on South pier, which is just not worth bothering. There is little themeing throughout and we even got stuck on the spiral lift! The rest of the day we spent in Ripleys, on Central Pier, winning tat in Coral Island and in the Sealife. Saturday night we saw the Ken Webster show at the Pleasure Beach which was a good crack, would be an excellent Friday Night entertainer for the Bash.
One last point before it gets a bit like a Nick Report! On Sunday we rode a chopper up and down Blackpool seafront getting some cool aerial shots of the Prom and the Pleasure Beach.
Thanks to J + J for the usual top class accommodation and many laughs. Hope your flower pots aren't moving. _________________ Steve

Me and Steve had a lovely time on the Pleasure Beach. A very relaxed feel to the park even though there were several coaches in the car park, but they soon left due to the weather.
The only thing that we both wanted to open was rollercoaster, and the chances of that happening was pretty slim!
We attempted to beat Coastergrahams record of 75 goes on the wild mouse, but we only did about 7 out of the 75.
You have to see Ken Webster! An evening to well and truly make your cheeks hurt from to much laughing!
John and Jane, thanks once again for everything. _________________ Hayley

It was fab seeing you over the weekend & Jane & I are really glad you had a good time while you were here.
Seeing the pics of you both riding that chopper were a sight to behold...& not something you see every day! lol
Hope to get to ride something down your way when we come down later in the year. Keep the Guinness cold! _________________ John & Jane, Langroyd Hotel, Blackpool. Member #2455 |

£25 each for a 10minute flight. goes from the beach next to South Pier up past the Tower and back. You can't beat the view or the photo opportunities. _________________ Steve

Believe it or not I'm trying to convince Jane to come with me on that helicopter. I/we think the photos were fantastic, especially the one of our road from the air. We can jam a 10 minute flight into our day between outgoing/incoming guests. Problem is, I just know that we'll get down to the beach & she'll chicken out at the last second!

Cheers Steve. How's about a EHS at the next Bash, umm, then again maybe not, think of the queue _________________ Don't look at me, I'm just Human

Don't write that thought off too quickly.
Where's Nev when we need him?
